  First annual golf tournament sponsored by the Newsoms and Branchville Volunteer Fire Department. To be held at the Cypress Cove Country Club. Starts at noon.        AARP will meet at the Franklin Presbyterian Church on Lee Street at 11:30 am. Hot lunch will be provided. Speaker will be Downtown Director David Merrick. YMCA Healthy Kids Day. 16th Annual YMCA Healthy Kids Day starting at 10am for ages 3 to 12. Planned activities include inflatable obstacle course, face painting, field day, carnival booths, balloon animals and more.

Beef Barbecue Sale. The Franklin Woman’s Club will hold its annual barbecue sale from 4 to 7pm at the Franklin Congregational Christina Church. Carry Out Meals Only. Cost $12. For tickets call 562-2456

  Library Week will be celebrated with the Gypsy Moon Tellers at 1pm at the Rawls Library.      National Library Week held at Ruth Camp Campbell Memorial Library of Blackwater Regional Library at 6pm with “Lucky Bill” Virginia’s own singing Cowboy. All ages are welcome.    Spring Fling Dance for the March of Dimes to be held at the Gingerbread House form 9pm to 1:00 am. Silver Streak will be featured.     Ruth Camp Campbell Memorial Library 2pm Movie “The Pursuit of Happiness”  Rawls Library in Courtland Summer Reading Program. Signup from 9:30 am – 1pm  Newsoms Community House Bingo night. Begins at 7pm. Hot dogs and drinks will be sold. The event is sponsored by the Newsoms Ruritan Club.  Registration for the 4-H Livestock Shows is now open. Youth ages 9-18 are eligible to register. Cheroenhaka Trails and Cultural Ride. Tours are 9am-Noon and 1pm-4pm. Hear the history of the tribe and visit former Cheroenhaka Indian trails, reservation land and burial grounds. Tours will leave Southampton County Courthouse parking lot in Courtland.
