Southampton
County Public Schools are comprised of four elementary
schools; one middle school; and one high school. All
Southampton County schools are accredited, based on
achievement of students in English, mathematics, history
and science during the 2008 school year. The high school
also includes Southampton Technical Career Center which
introduces students to job training skills
some
of those include child care, food & clothing services,
electricity related, engineering, building trades, and
agriculture. Welding and auto mechanics are offered
in conjunction with Paul
D. Camp Community College. All schools are accredited
by the Virginia Department of Education according to
the state's Standards of Learning. Southampton High
school is also accredited by the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools.

Southampton
Academy is a coeducational, college-preparatory
day school, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, accredited
by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools
and the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.
Located in the county seat, Courtland, Southampton Academy
has a total enrollment of approximately 425.
