Dog Licenses are issued by the Treasurer's Office. Dog licenses are required for all dogs four months and older. A current rabies certificate, signed by a licensed veterinarian, must be presented to obtain a dog license. A dog license is required for each dog by January 31st of each year.
 To purchase a license for a pre-existing kennel contact the Treasurer's Office at (757) 653-3025. To establish a new kennel, relocate an existing kennel, or expand an existing kennel please contact the Department of Building and Zoning at (757) 653-3011.
Renewals are available November 1st.
Reduced license fees are now available for spayed and neutered dogs. Please contact the Treasurer's Office at (757) 653-3025 for more details.
