Southampton Co. Courthouse
The Southampton County Courthouse, constructed in June 1834 was extensively remodeled in 1924 adding the four-columned portico on the front as well as the annex on the rear. The Courthouse stands tall on the green between Courtland's Main Street and the Nottoway River, a few yards from the site of the Flower's Bridge.
| BY ORDER OF THE SHERIFF, the following items are prohibited in the Southampton County Courthouse:
- Firearms - Pagers
- Knives - Cell Phones
- Weapons - Electronic Devices
- Matches - Beverages
- Lighters - Food
- Any other items deemed unaccepable by security
Please leave these items in your vehicle, as there is no place to securely leave items at the Courthouse entrance.
Also prohibited are shorts, tank tops and inappropriate attire.
Cell phones, laptops and electronic devices are only permitted in the Record Room for Record Room business.
ALL PERSONS ENTERING OR ON THE COURTHOUSE GROUNDS ARE SUBJECT TO SEARCH
